There are three major components to the team - viticulture, winemaking and sales. Each must work together to ensure that the consumer is satisfied.
Key team members are Winemaker Mark Cairns, Managing Director/Viticulture Manager Ian Cadwallader who also looks after sales with a small team of Account Managers thought out the Country.
Managing Director and Viticulture Manager Ian Cadwallader founded the company in 1989 and has at some time done all the activities needed to produce a bottle of wine - from grafting and planting vines to capsuling and labelling the bottles. Mark Cairns graduated from Lincoln University with a Post Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology in 1995. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering. He has worked for Villa Maria, taking up the Assistant Winemaker position at Vidal Estate from 1999 to 2002. In 1998 and 2002 he worked vintages at Hugel and Fils, and at M.Chapoutier, respectively. Mark is a member of Cellar Masters and has been a steward at the judging of many wine competitions.
