Biannual Quilt Exhibition - Labour Weekend 2010
On even years Rachel's quilting group The Thursday Thimblers show off their work in the winery. In 2004 they were joined by The Thursday Girls of Upper Hutt to make a stunning display of more than 50 quilts. In 2006, they all excelled again, but this year with over 70 quilts, and the 2008 event, well there was no room left with over 100 quilts. Planning is underway for the 2010 Labour Weekend, so book your time to spend a little time at the Winery.
A small fee is charged, to view the exhibition, which is given to a community organisation chosen by the quilters. The proceeds for 2008 went to the Hastings Food Bank. .
The exhibitors are already well under way with 2010's display!
The members of both the quilting groups are on hand to give extra information regarding the quilts and winery staff assist tasters with experiencing the delights of the new vintage releases.
If you are interested in learning to quilt or are a quilter and wish to share your tips etc, Rachel runs an informal eveing on Tuesday nights, ( 7-9.00pm ) in her class room area beside her shop, Patch and Quilt in front of the Winery. Just arrive.
